Features of ANSI Parallel sliding gate valve
The structural design of the parallel sliding valve is mainly based on the initial system pressure acting on the downstream disc of the valve seat as a whole. There is no wedge force or other load force on the valve seat. Therefore, the closing torque is significantly lower, manual operation is relatively easy, and the torque demand on the power actuator is relatively small. The basic characteristics of this structure determine that the parallel sliding valve will not be affected by thermal adhesion, so it has a significant safety advantage in high-temperature applications. At operating conditions close to 482°C, thermal adhesion may require the use of wedge gate valves. In these cases, the initial force to close the valve also increases the compressive load (due to thermal expansion). This additional load may cause the valve to stick or even fail to open.
